PCS (Precision Control System) is an electronic stability control system for Oldsmobile -models. The first installation was in 2000 on the Intrigue sedan. It improves the vehicle's handling and stability when manoeuvring, for example by avoiding the risk of slipping when driving around obstacles.

How PCS works
The car's actual direction of travel is determined by an analysis of:
- the speed at which the wheels are turning
- the vehicle's yaw rate
- the lateral acceleration value
If the actual direction of travel is not the desired direction, the system sends a signal to the hydraulic unit of the ABS system. The ABS pump is activated so that the pressure in a specific brake circuit is increased. The result is that a single wheel is braked. This restores both the vehicle's direction of travel and the traction of the skidding wheels on the road.

Causes for defects in the PCS
- The cables of the ABS sensors or the oxygen sensor are damaged
- The ABS sensors are dirty
- Low brake fluid level.
